As always, an excellent article—your breakdown of the two roles is clear, insightful, and exactly what’s needed. Do you happen to have a set of interview questions for both roles? Also, I’d love to hear your perspective on how one can effectively transition from a Data Analyst to a Data Engineer.
I'm an analyst but need to do some engineering because we don't have a dedicated DE. Ideally I'd like to learn all the engineering skills but I'm short on time. What should I focus on first to have the biggest impact?
I think the data community has developed a slightly distorted view of what a Data Engineer really is. Too often the role is compared to analytics or data science, while in reality DE is a much more technical discipline. Beyond building pipelines and platforms, strong Data Engineers understand how databases and execution engines work at a lower level — not just how to use them, but how and why they behave the way they do. What do you think?

Amazing Idea, I will maybe make a video or short about it.

Depends which platforms you are using in the company.. but usually SQL, Python is a good start.

"The best data teams are like a relay race. Engineers prepare the baton and analysts run with it to deliver insights"
One can't work without the other and having an understanding of how the two works is worth the time and energy
For an fresher what are the things should learn for Data Engineering and data analyts . Any youtube channel that's more structured.
Thank you Baraa! For sharing such a wonderful article!!
